LISTEN: Mastodon covers Stairway to Heaven

Last year, Mastodon's manager, Nick John, passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

"In early September 2018, we lost one of our closest friends and our biggest fan, our manager Nick John," the band explained in a statement. "He was essentially the band’s Dad. From our highest highs to our lowest lows he was always there. Every single move we made went through him first as our trust in him was marrow deep."

John was a massive Zeppelin fan. So much so that the band covered "Stairway to Heaven" at his funeral.

This past weekend, as part of Record Store Day, the band released a studio version of the Zeppelin cover titled "Stairway to Nick John" and will be donating proceeds to the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer.

If you are looking to get your hands on a physical copy of this single, you may not have much luck; only 1,500 copies of the 10-inch vinyl were pressed. However, the track should be available on most digital streaming platforms in May.
