Barrie Police hunt for sexual predator

    Barrie police are asking the public's help to identify a suspect wanted in connection with a sexual assault from last week, on Wednesday, April 3.  Police have now released a composite sketch of the suspect,  hoping it will assist with the identification and arrest of the suspect.

The incident happened in the early morning hours, around 3 a.m., on Cygnus Crescent in Barrie, as the homeowner got up to let the family pet outside.  She was then forced back into the home by the intruder, and sexually assaulted.     

Police say the victim, a woman in her thirties, was treated for injuries at the hospital.

The suspect's image is portrayed in the enclosed sketch, and was last seen wearing jeans and a brown zip-up hoodie.

      The investigation into a break and enter, where the homeowner was assaulted during the early morning hours of April 3, 2019 remains ongoing and detectives from the  Barrie Police Service can now confirm that assault was sexual in nature. A dedicated tip line has been established and anyone with information is strongly encouraged to contact the Barrie Police Service at 705-725-0501.

A composite sketch of the suspect who is believed to be responsible for this incident is also now available and investigators are hopeful that the release of this sketch will assist in the identification and arrest of the person being sought by police.

The Barrie Police Service reminds the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times and where possible, to avoid dark areas unless artificial lighting is available, especially during the overnight hours.
