Illegal pot dispensary shut down in Barrie

 On July 31, 2019, members of the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET), including members of the Ontario Provincial Police and Barrie Police Service, served a warrant at an illegal Cannabis Dispensary on Dunlop Street in the City of Barrie. 

Police seized cannabis and cannabis related products valued at $24,730, as well $4333 of Canadian currency and electronics related to the illegal business. 

The store employees were both arrested and charged. 

Richard Barry HEWSON 31-years-old of Barrie, Ontario charged with:

 

• Possession of Cannabis for the purpose of selling - Cannabis Act

• Selling Cannabis - Cannabis Act

• Possession of Proceeds of crime under $5000 - Criminal Code

 

Matthew RICHER 23-years-old of Sudbury, Ontario charged with:

• Possession of Cannabis for the purpose of selling - Cannabis Act

• Selling Cannabis - Cannabis Act

• Possession of Proceeds of crime under $5000 - Criminal Code

 

The accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on September 28, 2019.
