Stolen car in Barrie at knifepoint
The Barrie Police Service is appealing to the public for assistance after a car was reported stolen last night from a mall parking lot located in the City of Barrie.
On Thursday, May 9, 2019, at 6:48 p.m., police responded to the west side of the Bayfield Mall after the owner of a motor vehicle had her car stolen by a person armed with a knife.
The car, which is described as a 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) grey in color, with an Ontario licence plate of CALR 577 (similar to picture provided) was parked in a handicapped parking space by the owner who had gone into the mall to do some shopping. When she returned, an unknown male approached her as she put the key into the door lock. After a brief conversation, the suspect gained access to the car and drove away through the parking lot eventually making a left turn onto Coulter Street where he continued towards Bayfield Street.
The victim did not sustain any injuries as this incident unfolded and the car has not been located as of yet.
The suspect being sought is described as:
- Male white, 5'7"- 5'8", 20-25 years of age, medium/average build, dirty blonde hair, no facial hair, with dark coloured running shoes, a brown hoodie style sweatshirt or jacket.
