Brockville and Area Community Foundation Announce Recipients of Canada 150 Grants
$40,000 in Community Funding for Canada’s 150th grants and $20,000 from restricted endowments have been presented to several Leeds and Grenville initiatives.
This year’s grant presentations were held in the Lobby of the Brockville Arts Centre on Tuesday, May 9th.
Community Fund for Canada’s 150th Grants
Augusta Township Public Library – $3,500
The Augusta Library, with the Grenville Historical Society will launch and promote the publication of "The Stones of Augusta", a book profiling the stone heritage buildings in the township.
Brockville Community Choir – Brockville - $1,000
Brockville Music Monday –The Community Choir will join with elementary students celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary through singing Canadian music.
Brockville Public Library – Brockville - $5,000
Building connections and understanding through Virtual Reality by creating an inclusive space where community members can immerse themselves in experiences they would not otherwise be able to.
Children’s Mental Health of Leeds and Grenville – Leeds and Grenville - $6,000
Making Play Possible will increase the number of number of children and youth engaged in artistic recreation in Leeds and Grenville to at least 150 young people to participate in the arts.
City of Brockville – Tunnel Committee – Brockville - $4,500
Parade and official opening ceremonies to dedicate the restoration of Canada's First Railway Tunnel and the opening of phase one of Brockville's new Railway Tunnel Park in celebration of Canada's 150th birthday.
City of Brockville – Rails to Trails Festival – Brockville - $4,500
The Rails to Trails Festival Is a four day event, celebrating Canada's 150th year of Confederation, Ontario's 150 years as a founding province and the re-opening of Canada's First Railway Tunnel.
Friends of The Brockville Museum – Brockville - Children’s Newcomer’s Exhibit - $5,000
A child focussed permanent museum exhibit that explores and reflects Brockville's cultural diversity and creates an archival record of the experience of more recent newcomers.
Thousand Islands River Heritage Society – Mallorytown - $6,000
Celebrate Canada's first glassworks by updating one room of the museum to hold the original crucible from the glassworks, replica glass pieces and high quality photos of glass pieces projected on a wide screen monitor.
Town of Prescott – South Grenville - $2,000
South Grenville Business Showcase Celebrates Canada’s 150th - Showcase local and nationwide stories and pictures celebrating why South Grenville residents are proud to be Canadian.
Town of Prescott – Prescott - $2,500
The Fort Town Concert Association will plan and offer a free high quality, classical style music concert using regional artists to celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary to area residents.

Hope Fund – Assistance for Medical Travel – May Court - $1300
