Brockville Councillor Candidate Profile: Jane Fullarton
Jane Fullarton says she’s proud of the attractions that have come to Brockville since she's sat on Council.
She says that the Aquatarium and the tunnel have had their issues but are the kinds of investments that bring people to visit the city.
"That puts heads in beds at our hotels, fills our restaurants; it makes people go to the local coffee shops, grocery store, buy gas. All of those things help business."
Fullarton says council has learned from these large-scale projects, like the Brockville Railway Tunnel.
You can't go down to Blockhouse Island without seeing people streaming in and out no matter what time of day," she says. "We have those costs locked down now, yes there's basically a mortgage on it, but that's an asset that's going to be there in 100 years."
In running for a fourth term on council in the October 22 elections Fullarton is also the director of Big Brothers Big Sisters in the city. She thinks being involved is "contagious."
"I come to my meetings prepared I have the packages read, I understand the background information and when I don't I ask questions."
Between Rotary Park with the splash pad, the Brockville Railway Tunnel she says there's lots for young people to do in the city now.
Fullarton has been the only woman on council over the four year term and says that representation is important as well.
Nothing as glorious as your typical Hollywood blockbuster fight scene.
Imagine being a passenger sitting on the right side of the plane and staring at the runway almost in front of you as the plane lands. Scary!
