Catholic School Board Facing Decreased Enrollment

The Public School Board is not the only one facing a decrease in student enrollment.

The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario’s enrollment rate is projected to drop close to 2% this year.

The lower enrollment rate means decreased funding for the board, which predicts it will lose about $1.2 million in revenue as a result.

The Catholic Board operates 40 elementary and 10 secondary schools across its jurisdiction with just under 13,000 students.

Meanwhile, the Public School Board has shown an average decrease of about 144 students a year, which translates to a $1.6 million decrease in revenue.
