Cautiously Optomistic Hiring Climate For Brockville, Says Manpower Group

The Manpower Group is calling for a "cautiously optimistic" hiring climate in Brockville over the next quarter.

Anne-Marie Lanthier says about 20 per cent of businesses will be hiring, far outpacing any cutbacks in staff levels.

"Only three percent anticipate cutbacks. Which is a nice little three percent," she laughs.

"So this is good news for the Brockville area."

The remaining employers plan will continue to maintain their staffing levels in the upcoming quarter.

That's because our manufacturing and distribution sectors are ramping up.

"Because right now we're in a Christmas season for companies, so that increases production and things like that," explains Lanthier. "The season always varies."

Manpower says it's a two percent increase over the last quarter. It's also a one percentage point increase reported during this time last year, "indicating a conservative hiring pace for the upcoming months."
