Kingston Police Say UK Youth Responsible for December School Threats

Kingston Police believe a youth living in the United Kingston is responsible for calling in a series of fraudulent bomb threats to local schools in December of last year.

On December 5 and 6, 2018, several local Kingston schools, as well as one in Elgin, were placed into lockdown and hold and secure emergency protocols after threats were called in from an unknown person.

The threats turned out to be false, and no one was hurt. Police stress that the threats did put a drain on school operations, students and staff, and police resources.

Kingston Police are currently in the process of seeking a warrant on several charges of public mischief, and uttering threats. However, they do not plan to extradite the youth. Should the young person travel to Canada they will be arrested.

Local investigators were assisted by police in the United States and the United Kingdom.
