Leeds and Thousand Islands Getting Ready to Spend
The Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands will be conducting some ambitious capital spending in the near future.
The town is expecting to drop at least $12 million over the next 2 years to address a number of different projects.
$4.3 million will be spent on road repair, $2 million will be spent on renovations to the Jessie Street Centre in Lansdowne, $1.5 million will be saved for the future closing of landfills; $185,000 will be spent on improvements to the Bay of St. Lawrence Park; $535,000 will be used for new trucks and heavy equipment, while the Seeley's Bay Fire hall will need about $750,000 worth of work.
Most of the money for the projects would come from the township's reserves which now sit around $9.1 million.
