Leeds and Thousand Islands Looking Into Building Municipal Housing

The Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands is looking into helping out their senior population through municipal housing.

A committee is to be setup to look at possible locations, various partnerships, available grants and the needs to build housing in Lansdowne or in other parts of town.

So far the old ball diamond near Jerry Park is the favorite location, however the  Lansdowne Agricultural Society still has a claim on that space and would be reluctant to let the town sell the land because the diamond is still used for parking during the annual fair.

The hope is the project will get moving before the current council's term ends in 2018.
