Mayor Launches Bid For Provincial Liberals

Mayor David Henderson is throwing his hat in the ring to be the next Liberal candidate for the Leeds Grenville riding.

Henderson says he's aiming for this provincial election because the plans the Liberals have - pharmacare, minimum wage, and tuition changes - means there's a lot on the line...

"Right now, if this province decides to go to the PC side, those plans, those programs will not be happening, or they will be stalled out, or go in a different direction."

Speaking to a crowd at the Union Jack to officially launch his bid, Henderson admits, yes, he's run for the conservatives in the past but says times have changed.

"The vast majority of people in this area are in the middle, you want to watch your dollar, but at the same time you want to make sure that things happen and invest. Back then the conservatives used to be progressive. They're not now, and it's a big difference."

Right now, Henderson is the only candidate, the provincial election is set for June.
