MPP Clark Becomes Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing
MPP Steve Clark is Ontario's minister of municipal affairs and housing.
Clark says he's happy with the file.
"I've certainly dealt with Ontario's 444 municipalities over the last 35 years," says Clark. "And I've met many, many rental housing providers, and housing stakeholders, it's a great portfolio."
The MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau lakes was sworn in on Friday among a cabinet of 20 members.
Clark says he'll be meeting with municipal leaders at a convention in Ottawa in August, speaking with them on infrastructure needs. He also expect to discuss affordable housing.
"The many housing stakeholders, [that’s] a file that we’ve heard from. Things that the government can do to bring more housing stock into the system."
Clark has a background for the file. He has served as mayor of Brockville, chief administrative officer of the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands and president of the association of municipalities of Ontario.
Premier Doug Ford says the legislature will the week of June 9.
