OPP Catch Up With Armed Robbery Suspect

The man responsible for an armed robbery at a Kemptville convenience store last month has now been caught.

The incident occurred on February 16th around 2:30am, that's when a masked man armed with a knife and wearing dark clothing entered the Quickie and Pioneer Gas Bar on Rideau Street and stole cigarettes, cash and lottery tickets.

No one was injured in the incident.

This past Thursday (March 2nd) Grenville OPP officers arrested and charged 25 year old Kemptville native Reilly Paul Grootjans with robbery with a weapon, wearing a disguise with the intent to commit robbery and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused was held in custody over the weekend and has a bail hearing set for later on today (March 6th) in Brockville.
