Past Violent Incident at BMHC Leads to Fine
A past incident at the Brockville Mental Health Centre will be costing it's parent group some money.
The Royal Ottawa Health Care Group has been fined $75,000 in relation to the 2014 incident that saw a federal inmate repeatedly stab a nurse in the neck and head with a pen.
The BMHC was charged with five infractions under the Occupational Health and Safety Act for failing to protect employee health and safety.
Only one of the charges stuck.
The attacker Marlene Carter was responsible for several other attacks on nurses and has since been transferred to a forensic psychiatric facility in Saskatoon.
