Provincial Ranks for Local High School's EQAO Testing Results
We now know how local high schools stack up with others from across the province.
The Fraser Institute’s Report Card on Ontario’s Secondary Schools for 2015/2016 was released on Sunday (February 19th). The ten high schools in the region finished with an average rating of 6 out of 10, which is considered average when matched up with other the 740 high schools throughout Ontario.
In Brockville; BCI (Brockville Collegiate Institute) ranked 135th with a rating of 7.5; St Mary Catholic High School finished 201st with a 7.1 rating; and Thousand Islands Secondary School came in at 447th with a rating of 5.8.
South Grenville District High School in Prescott was 660th with a 3.8 rating, while North Grenville Public School in Kemptville came in at 118th with a 7.6 rating
St. Michael Catholic High School in Kemptville finished as the highest-ranked secondary school in the area coming in at 50th spot out of 740 schools with a rating of 8.2.
The lowest ranked school in the area was Gananoque Secondary School with a rating of 2.5 good for a 707th rank.
Rideau High School in Elgin placed 462nd with a 5.7 rating, Smiths Falls District Collegiate Institute came in at 530th with a 5.2 rating and Athens District High School finished 692nd with a rating of 3.1 out of 10.
The ranking system is based on seven academic categories based on EQAO Math and Literacy testing results from Grade 9 and 10 students.
