Runciman Passes on Federal Seat Run

Former Senator Bob Runciman says he's taking a pass  on running for the riding's federal Conservative nomination.

Speaking to 104.9 JRFM earlier this week, Runciman said that he was on the verge of announcing, when Colin Brown made his own.

Runciman says was planning to run on a unity ticket to hopefully carry the party through a byelection and finish up the late Gord Brown's year term in Ottawa.

But now that it would be at least a two-way race between him and Colin Brown, Runciman says that he doesn't have the "enthusiasm" for the fight.

The federal riding of Leeds-Grenville--Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes byelection has yet to be called.
