Search Continues For Missing Boy
Divers have still been unable to find an 11-year-old Ottawa boy who went missing in the St. Lawrence River on Saturday.
The search is entering its fifth day, after the family's boat capsized west of Rockport.
OPP Constable Sandra Barr says the mission is facing a lot of variables, even though the weather continues to be in their favour.
"The darkness of the water if anything for the divers," she says. "Water temperature, water depth, and current, all of those factors are making this particular event very challenging."
A core group of OPP and rescue officers have been working to find the boy.
Barr says the mission has been a difficult one.
"Consider most of these people have kids, nieces, nephews of their own, so you can't help but think of that as well," she says. "But yet, think of the task at hand, and what we're doing."
It's unclear how long the search will continue. There's indication from police it will be up to expert divers to determine when all efforts have been exhausted.
