Special Weather Statement Released Across Eastern Ontario

Environment Canada is warning of a mix of messy weather this weekend in Brockville, Prescott, Kemptville and Gananoque.

There is the potential for freezing rain beginning Saturday, that could transition to ice pellets and then to rain by Sunday afternoon.

After that they forecast that freezing rain will change back to snow late Sunday afternoon or Sunday evening. Total snow and ice pellet could reach in the 5 to 10 cm range by Monday morning.

70 km/hr winds are possible during this time as well, making driving difficult at times.

This is part of a larger Special Weather Statement issued across Eastern Ontario.

Drivers in Kingston, Toronto and even south to Waterloo and Kitchener are being warned of damaging winds with gusts to 90 to 110 km/hr Sunday afternoon. The winds will follow “the passage of a cold front” and will linger through the night before tapering off on Monday morning.

Environment Canada says meteorologists will continue to monitor this developing situation closely.
