Spike Belt Deployed and Shots Fired as Police Engage in Vehicle Chase
OPP officers were forced to use a spike belt and a rolling block to stop a vehicle chase on HWY 401 west of Brockville.
The incident began last night around 5pm when officers received a driving complaint, it later escalated into a full-on pursuit .
The use of a spike belt was unsuccessful in stopping the suspect vehicle. This led officers to use the rolling block technique which allowed officers to box the suspect vehicle in, this caused the end of the chase east of the Long Beach exit to County Road 2.
Police were even forced to fire shots in the incident, however no one was injured in the exchange and two male suspects are now in custody.
Traffic was closed on the westbound 401 from about 6:20pm up to shortly after 11pm while officers collected evidence from the scene.
