Suspended Police Officers Still Earn Enough to Make Sunshine List

Ontario's Sunshine list has revealed that even suspended cops are making some good money.

The Sunshine list held the names of at least 12 cops from across the province who still earned over $100,000 while spending most of 2016 on suspension.

The list includes Leeds County OPP officer George Duke, a 20 year veteran who was arrested in 2015 for a number of charges including theft over $5000 as well as possession of a restricted firearm and illegal drug.

The current rule in place states that all police officers that are suspended will still receive their normal pay, a suspended officer’s pay will only be taken away if they are convicted of a crime and sentenced.

Ontario is the only province that has this rule in place.
