Tree Cutting Halts For Investigation

The culling of trees on land looked after by the St Lawrence Parks commission has been put on temporary hold after some outcry from area residents.

Across the various campgrounds and beaches the commission is responsible for about 1500 trees including 300 at the Ivy Lea Campground have been selected for possible removal.

However all 1500 trees marked are not guaranteed to be cut down.

This stems from an incident last year at Glengarry Park where a seemingly healthy tree fell down for no apparent reason.

Any tree cutting will now be stopped for the next couple of days while concerns from local residents are addressed by the commission.
