City of Ottawa to start collecting Airbnb tax

Starting today, the City of Ottawa will start collecting a tax from Airbnb listings.

Its the second such agreement in Canada.

Airbnb will charge a four per cent hotel tax on listings in Ottawa.

The online company also collects a tax on its Quebec listings.

Airbnb says the City of Ottawa missed out on 850 thousand dollars in revenue in 2017 because there was no deal.
