Fire crews extricate three people in Hwy 417 crash

It was a messy and dangerous commute on the highways Tuesday.

A mixture of black ice and more than a dozen collisions kept paramedics busy.

Ottawa Fire High Angle were called to Highway 417 Eastbound, just West of Moodie Drive, at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday.

A vehicle veered off the roadway down a forty foot ditch.

Ottawa Fire extricated three people traveling in the same vehicle.

The driver, a 48-year-old woman, suffered back and lower leg injuries. Two passengers, a 77-year-old man and woman, suffered injuries as well.

Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says 341 people were killed on OPP patrolled roads in 2017.
