Ottawa man facing child porn charges following online tips to police

A 23-year-old Ottawa man is facing several child pornography-related charges following an investigation by Ottawa Police.

Police say they received seven reports in November 2016 from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre, which had been forwarded from the United States’ National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children CyberTipline. The reports claimed an Ottawa-based IP address was uploading images of child sexual abuse.

The IP address was traced to a Nepean home. Police executed a search warrant on Tuesday and say they discovered images of child sexual abuse on digital devices found in the home.

Chad Waite is charged with one count of making child pornography available, two counts of possession of child pornography, and one count of accessing child pornography.

He’ll appear in court Wednesday.
