Ottawa-Vanier byelection called for early April
Ottawa Vanier residents will go to the polls April 3.
A federal byelection has been called to fill the seat left vacant after Mauril Belanger passed away last summer. Bélanger held the long-standing Liberal seat for more than 20 years before his death last August, months after being diagnosed with ALS.
The candidates are Mona Fortier for the Liberals, Adrian Papara for the Conservatives, Emilie Taman for the NDP, and Nira Dookeran for the Green Party.
The riding has voted Liberal since 1974 when it was created.
