RCAF planning flyby over Canadian Tire Centre ahead of Sens-Rangers game
You're going to hear a loud noise coming from Kanata on Saturday afternoon.
While some of it might be Sens fans at the Canadian Tire Centre for Game 2 against the New York Rangers, this particular sound is coming a few minutes before the puck drops.
The Department of National Defense says two Royal Canadian Air Force CT-155 Hawk trainer jets will conduct a flyby over the Canadian Tire Centre between 2:00 and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
DND says in a statement the jets will fly over the arena "no lower than 500 feet above the highest point of their route." RCAF flybys are carefully controlled and planned to ensure public safety, DND says.
The CT-155 Hawk is the RCAF’s fighter training aircraft, which fighter jet candidate pilots train on before moving on to the CF-18 Hornet. The planes flying over the CTC on Saturday come from the Canadian Forces Flying Training School at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
