What's Happening This Weekend in Ottawa and Area

This weekend, you can watch the grand finale of the Sound of Light fireworks show at the Canadian Museum of History. The last show is on Saturday, August 19.

It’s the final weekend to see the Changing of the Guard Ceremony on Parliament Hill. The daily performances at 10:00 a.m. come to an end Friday, August 25. The final performances at 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at Rideau Hall end Thursday, August 24.

As 2017 continues, Ottawa Welcomes the World. This Friday at the Horticulture Building at Lansdowne Ottawa Welcomes Colombia. Then, on Sunday, Ottawa Welcomes Trinidad and Tobago.

One of the oldest agricultural fairs in Ontario returns. The Vankleek Hill Fair is on Thursday to Sunday. See cattle and horse shows, the flower and home craft displays. The demolition derby is always a highlight of the fair and is held on Saturday evening. A petting zoo is also available for visitors of all ages and there will also be a midway and musical entertainment.

On now, until Sunday in St. Albert, Ontario, it's Festival de la Curd. Enjoy cheese and cheese-related family activities, Giant Bingo, a beach volleyball tournament, wine & cheese tasting, and free cheese curds under the big top!
