2 people charged following police chase in St. Catharines and Thorold
A police cruiser damaged in a stolen car pursuit last night spanning St. Catharines and Thorold.
Police tell CKTB it started in St. Catharines in the area of Niagara Street and Welland when an officer saw a car stopped at a light around 11pm.
The licence plate was covered so the officer tried to pull them over, but the car fled.
After a short chase the officer stopped due to safety concerns and it was then determined the vehicle was stolen.
Police were able to then find the car again on Thorold Townline Road and ended up at a dead end.
When police tried to stop it again, the driver rammed into a police cruiser, causing approximately $15 000 in damage.
The stolen car was also significantly damaged.
A 37 year old man and 27 year old woman in the car have both been arrested and are facing a number of charges.
