A warning to parents about the risks of guns accessible to youth
The Canadian Paediatric Society wants its members to start warning parents about the risks of guns being accessible to youth.
That's because of new research by Toronto's Hospital of Sick Children that found firearms either killed or injured a child or youth almost every day in Ontario each year between 2008 and 2012.
Researchers say three-quarters of the incidents were unintentional.
The paediatric society wants its members to start urging parents to properly store firearms and is also urging all levels of government to bring in stricter gun controls.
