Another hit in the pocketbook

Gas prices are up again this morning across Niagara as the price climbs to an average of $1.30 a litre.

Gas analyst Dan McTeague of indicating it may be the new normal.

The hike comes on the heels of another report about a commodity we also can't live without, electricity.

The Fraser Institute is out with a new study of hydro prices in Ontario.

The right wing think tank says residential electricity costs increased 71 per cent between 2008 and 2016, more than double the national average increase of 34 per cent.

The study's author, Kenneth Green also found price increases for large industrial users between 2008 and 2015 resulted in the loss of 75,000 manufacturing jobs.

Green says Ontario is a prime example of how not to manage energy policy.
