Attention potential municipal election candidates, the time to file your registration papers is near
Two weeks today, is the day, local residents interested in running in the fall municipal election can start filing their nomination papers.
Starting May 1st until July 27th at 2 pm, those who wish to run for either municipal councils or as a school board trustee can register their nomination documents with a city or regional clerk.
Candidates must be a Canadian citizen, 18 years of age or older and legally permitted to vote and hold municipal office.
Candidates must live, own or rent property in the city or town they are running in, or be the spouse of an owner or renter.
The term of elected office will be from December 1, 2018 to November 14, 2022.
The municipal elections will be held on October 22nd.
