Beating death of senior in nursing home ruled a homicide
Hamilton police say the investigation into a fatal attack on a Dundas nursing home resident is now a murder investigation.
Police were called to St Joseph's Villa on January 28th after 86 year old James Acker was brutally beaten by a fellow resident.
Mr. Acker was admitted to hospital where he died on April 16th.
The coroner has ruled his death a homicide.
The 83 year old resident accused in the attack remains in a secure psychiatric facility.
Police note the ward where Mr. Acker and the accused were living was a secure area for residents suffering advanced mental illness,dementia and Alzheimer's.
