BREAKING | Victim in Grimsby was an adult: NRP

A 39 year old Toronto man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 31 year old woman in Grimsby.

Police say the two knew each other and the suspect, Mark Burrell has been charged with second degree murder.

Officer were called to the area of Bartlett Avenue and Main Street in front of the Lincoln Park Retirement Residence at around 4:30 a.m.

Niagara Regional Police Constable Phil Gavin says they responded to a welfare check in the area.

Officers found a woman suffering from serious injuries and she was taken to hospital where she died.

Officers then arrested the suspect.

Officials from Lincoln Park tell CKTB News the incident did not involve an residents or staff members.
 

This marks the second homicide in Niagara this year.

53 year old Richard Norman Williamson was pronounced dead in hospital after being found in distress at his apartment building in St.Catharines on January 5th.

Two men are facing second degree murder charges in that case.
