Burgoyne Bridge audit leaked
No smoking gun but an independant audit into the over budget Burgoyne Bridge build raising a litany of questions over procurement policies and hiring practises at the Niagara Region.
Post Media has obtained a leaked copy of the audit, conducted by Deloitte, which has not been made public yet.
According to the news agency, there are questions with the contract awarded to Parsons Inc., the company hired to conduct the environmental assessment, design and contract administration of the bridge build.
Post Media says the audit reveals that the process to vet applicants for the contract was changed in favour of Parsons with the knowledge of a regional manager.
The lengthy report identifies three issues that have been forwarded to police for further investigation.
However, only one of them actually pertains to the Burgoyne Bridge.
The other issues involve contracts to Circle P Paving and to Regional Trenching, unrelated to the bridge build.
