Butts to tell his side of the story today

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's close friend and former top adviser will tell his side of the S-N-C-Lavalin story this morning when he testifies to the Commons justice committee.

Gerald Butts resigned last month, but never explained why.

He will testify about his discussions with former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould regarding the S-N-C-Lavalin file amid her claims that he and several other Trudeau government officials tried to pressure her to give the engineering firm a break on criminal charges.

Liberals are hoping Butts' side of the story will help the government defend itself against accusations of political interference in the justice system
