Cause of house fire in Merritton remains under investigation

A late-night house fire in Merritton yesterday remains under investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshall. 

Acting Fire Chief Jeff McCormick says the fire at 43 Dundee Drive broke out just after 11 o'clock last night.  

Three people escaped the fire and were treated for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital for observation.  

A cat in the home perished in the fire. 
 
Damage is pegged at $100,000.
