CEO of Goodwill Niagara dies suddenly at the age of 53
Goodwill Niagara has announced that its CEO has died suddenly.
Laura Hills, who was with the organization since 1996, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 53 at the St.Catharines General Hospital.
Hills went to the hospital for angiogram, but suffered a fatal heart attack during the procedure.
An angiogram is an X-ray photograph of blood or lymph vessels, and is usually performed to investigate the possibility of blocked coronary arteries.
Hills was appointed as CEO of Goodwill Niagara in 2015, and was also an active Rotary Club member in St. Catharines.
She was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow Medal and Paul Harris Society award through Rotary International.
Officials say Hills was a problem solver who treated everyone at Goodwill Niagara like family.
A celebration of life will take place next week.
In memory of Hills, memorial donations may be made to Rotary St. Catharines or Goodwill Niagara.
Director of Marketing at Goodwill Bob Romeo says they are still in shock and Hills was a great friend and leader of the organization.
