Charges upgraded to first degree murder for St. Catharines man involved in manhunt
Niagara Regional Police Chief Jeff Maguire confirming 43 year old Justin Kuijer is facing a charge of first degree murder in connection with the death of 7 year old Nathan Dumas.
Police had originally charged him with second degree murder, but now confirming those charges have been upgraded to 1st degree murder.
Kuijer is set to appear in court in Kenora after he was arrested in a Walmart parking lot in the northern city yesterday afternoon.
The St. Catharines man is also facing a charge of attempted murder after a woman was stabbed at the RBC bank on Martindale Road last Friday.
Chief McGuire says O.P.P. in Kenora arrested Kuijer without incident after a tip from a citizen.
Kuijer will be returned by plane to the Niagara Region tonight.
He is set to appear in St. Catharines court tomorrow morning for a bail hearing.
