Committee reports Pelham's Meridian Community Centre comes in under budget

The group responsible for overseeing the Meridian Community Centre in Pelham says the centre is on time and under budget by more than $700,000.

During this week's council meeting, the Meridian Community Centre Oversight Committee delivered the news, citing Ball Construction's value engineering approach as a major cost saver.

The centre officially opened on July 20th and has already hosted several events, but the grand opening is scheduled for next Saturday, September 15th at 10 a.m.

One of the biggest moments planned for the opening is a NHL Alumni game versus Pelham's Minor Hockey Association Coaches.

Two members of the Gretzky family will be participating - Walter will be serving as an honorary coach while Brent hits the ice. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
