Cop Shop kicks off this morning

Today is a day to shop for police and 47 local kids.

Members of the NRP, OPP, Parks Police and CN Police will take children on a Christmas shopping excursion.

The day will begin with the kids travelling in style, as they experience their first limo ride.

Armed with their holiday wish lists and a $200 gift card donated by the Pen Centre, the children will hit the mall, do some shopping and enjoy lunch all with their own uniformed personal shopper.

NRP Chief Bryan MacCulloch says the Cop Shop program, now in its 11th year, allows officers to have a meaningful impact on the lives of some of the youngest members of our region.

The children chosen for Cop Shop were recommended by their school principals and were selected because of need, recognition of specific academic or sports achievement or because of volunteer efforts that are making a difference in the community.
