Couple of controversial issues tonight at regional council
Tonight Niagara Regional councillors will debate whether to extend a leave of absence for one of their colleagues.
Up for debate at the meeting, whether to extend Andy Petrowski's leave from May 31st to September 25th.
This would be Petrowski's third leave of absence since June of last year, when he left the region for several months amid an email scandal.
The St. Catharines regional councillor found himself in hot water after an email sent from his account included an embedded pornographic image.
He returned to council chambers only to take another leave early in the new year.
If approved, the extension will end just a few weeks before the October municipal election.
Also tonight, Pelham Mayor Dave Augustyn will introduce a motion to stop fellow councillors from expensing promotional materials.
At issue information flyers sent out by three councillors that included campaign style information about their political accomplishments.
