DEVELOPING: Region pays over $44,000 to councillor for legal expenses
Councillor expenses could be the highlight of tonight's regional council meeting.
In particular, Post Media reports, a payout of $44,571 to an unidentified councillor for legal expenses.
The legal expenses are reimbursement for costs the councillor racked up as the result of an integrity commissioner's report and an ensuing court case.
Regional staff would not reveal the identity of the councillor, but the paper says three councillors were the subject of complaints to the integrity commissioner.
Two of those councillors Kelly Edgar and Brian Heit deny the payout went to them.
That leaves a third councillor, Andy Petrowski, who did not return calls from Post Media.
A regional official says he expects the details to be made public during tonight's regional council meeting.
Listen to 610 CKTB at 7:20 this morning, Tim Denis will talk to Post Media reporter Grant Lafleche about his revealing report on regional council expenses.
