Do schools need to be air conditioned?
With Niagara setting a new heat record yesterday as the mercury soared to 32.8 degrees C, some parents are saying its time we address the issue of hot, stuffy schools.
The NDP held a news conference outside an elementary school yesterday calling on the Ford Tories to give school boards more money to address infrastructure repairs, saying teachers and children can't be expected to learn in sweltering conditions
In July, the PC government cancelled a $100-million fund earmarked for school repairs this year.
The cut was part of the decision to axe the cap and trade program.
School boards were notified on July 3rd that the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund would be eliminated and that only work contracted on or before that date would be covered.
