Drone incident at Waterloo regional airport
Police say a recent incident at Waterloo regional airport shows why people should be mindful of Transport Canada regulations for drone aircraft.
They say a 34-year-old Kitchener man was trying out his new consumer drone when he lost control of it and it disappeared.
The drone was found outside a hangar at the regional airport this week by employees who then called police.
The drone was later returned to its owner.
But police say drone aircraft are not allowed within a 9-kilometre radius of airports and those who break the rule could face jail time and fines of up to 25-thousand dollars.
