A New York man is facing charges after border officials found cocaine stashed in a shoe box.
A U-S official say the man attempted to enter the U-S from Fort Erie May 12.
He was referred for secondary inspection and Customs and Border Patrol officers found one kilogram of cocaine hidden inside a shoebox.
Charged with intent to distribute cocaine is 29-year-old Joel Torres Diaz of Geneva, N.Y.
The charge carries a minimum term of five years imprisonment and a $5,000 fine.
