Eight Hamilton women adrift at sea for 28 hours
It was a bachelorette trip a group of Hamilton women will be talking about for a long time.
Andrea Palmieri and a group of friends were celebrating her upcoming nuptials in the Bahamas last Friday when a decision to take a boat ride to swim with some pigs proved fateful.
The tour boat ran out of gas, after the fuel line sprang a leak, leaving the eight women and the captain and crew of the boat adrift at sea for 28 hours.
Palmieri tells the Spec, the boat didn't have flares, GPS or lights and they couldn't get any cell phone reception.
Finally a commercial fishermen found the group and rescued them calling ashore to let Palmieri's frantic mother, who had decided to stay at the resort instead of taking the excursion, know her daughter and friends were safe.
