State officials say that two days before Thursday's catastrophic bridge collapse in Miami, an engineer left a voicemail saying some cracking had been found at one end of the span.
However, the voicemail wasn't picked up until Friday.
The engineer also said in the call he didn't believe the cracking posed a safety issue.
At least six people were killed in the collapse.
Authorities are slowly removing the debris, as they look for more bodies.
