Expansion of cannabis production facility expected to create more jobs
Over 100 full time jobs could be coming to the Niagara region as a cannabis production facility plans to expand.
Officials with Canopy Growth Corporation say they own and operate the largest known licensed cannabis production facility in the world at Tweed Farms, and the company is beginning work on a new expansion.
The company invested $9 million to purchase land next to their current operation in Niagara-On-The-Lake. That land includes a operational 458,000 square foot greenhouse.
A new greenhouse is also being built on the current Tweed Farms property . Company officials believe the construction should wrap up by April 2018.
All told, Tweed Farms will have over one million square feet of greenhouse space plus an updated drying room and laboratory.
