Fencing going up in Port Dalhousie as water levels rise
The east pier in Port Dalhousie is closed to the public due to high water levels in Lake Ontario.
Temporary fencing is being installed today along the pier by the Dalhousie Yacht Club, and will stay there until water levels are normal.
Water levels in Lake Ontario are expected to continue to rise this year.
In 2017 water levels were at a record-breaking 75.88 metres above sea level.
This resulted in the closure of parts of Lakeside Park, and a delay in the opening of the Carousel.
As of today, water levels are already at 75.45 metres above sea level.
